Happy Birthday to Karen Carpenter, Jay Osmond and John Cowsill

I always thought that it was a strange coincidence that Karen Carpenter, Jay Osmond and John Cowsill – all drummers in successful family bands – have the same birthday (March 2). Anyway, here is my little WordPress tribute to them.

Happy Birthday Karen, Jay and John

Ticket to Ride – The Carpenters
Karen Anne Carpenter (March 2, 1950 – February 4, 1983) was an American singer and drummer. She and her brother, Richard, formed the 1970s duo The Carpenters. She was a drummer of exceptional skill, but she is best remembered for her vocal performances of idealistic romantic ballads of true love.
Jay Osmond (March 2, 1955) was the drummer for The Osmonds, an American family music group with a long and varied career—a career that took them from singing barbershop music as children, to achieving success as teen-music idols, to producing a hit television show, and to continued success as solo and group performers.

Silver Thread and Golden Needles – The Cowsills
John Cowsill (b. March 2, 1956 in Newport, Rhode Island) is an American musician, best known for his work as a singer and drummer with his siblings’ band, The Cowsills. He is currently a drummer and vocalist for the current The Beach Boys touring band.
